UX / UI DESIGN
Studiasmart
Application whose focus is helping students to optimize both time and results
Sector
Education.
Duration
2 weeks, ended in Decembre 2020.
Challenge
The challenge was to design a useful application of any nature within two weeks.
This challenge was launched by Talent Garden Innovation School where I attended the master in UX.
My role
The project had to be done individually so I supervised everything from research to prototyping.
CONTEXT
IDEA
This project was born as part of the training course held in Talent Garden Innovation School. The brief given was very free: you had to realize an application of any nature in two weeks.
My idea was to create an application that could help students in their study process.
DESIGN PROCESS

DISCOVERY
INTERVIEW 1:1
In order to understand where and how to intervene in the study process, I elaborated a research with the target users.
The first phase of research, therefore, was to ask students directly.
I made 12 1:1 interviews, with the aim of discovering the most common frustrations and needs.
Interviews were conducted with novice students, as I assumed they were the least experienced.
This is the only element I wanted to have in common in the chosen sample, in fact to find a solution that would cover a wider audience, I made sure that all the students interviewed came from different faculties
No, it's not me
but you get the idea

Interviews conducted through platforms such as Zoom and Google Meet
What was your last exam?
Would you describe how do you prepared it?
How much time did you spend to be ready for this exam?
Were you prepared well in advance to take the exam?
What were your test results?
Do you use a methodical approach to study?
What process are you using?
What can’t you do without?
In which aspect of the study do you think you have the most deficiencies?
How much time do you spend studying?
QUESTIONS
Important to remember specific
events to bring out the memory

DISCOVERY / DEFINITION
SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
Once I mapped the experience and defined the areas in which to intervene, I decided to deepen with a scientific research.

Thanks to this research, I realized how several student problems led to a condition called cramming.
CRAMMING
Condition in which a student tries to assimilate a large amount of information in a very short time.
The consequences of this condition correspond perfectly to the pain points of my personas: no more spare time, anxiety, and constant fear of forgetting.
PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
STATEMENT
Contextualized the problem, and identified an action plan, I converted my initial idea into a more concrete statement, already choosing the name of my application.
Studiasmart, an application dedicated to the study that aims to optimize time and results.
Research has not only helped me to name a number of problems, but it has also given me the possibility to find opportunities to turn into solutions.
In fact, I discovered some study approaches that could have been useful to help students.
In particular, two principles have become the pillars of studiasmart.
OPPORTUNITIES
ACTIVE RECALL
Pillar that use the principle that long-term memory is stimulated by the attempt to remember.

Approach, I repeat, active and not passive, as this unfortunately more widespread, but that does not produce the expected results.

SPACED REPETION
The second pillar of studiasmart is the spaced repetition that aims to counter the forgetting curve.
This curve shows how in a short time we forget what we learn, but through spaced repetion, we can make sure that the curve never bends completely.

IMPLEMENTATION
SOLUTION: SMART STUDY PLAN
With the aim of helping students in target and therefore not able to use these principles independently, due to the lack of time management skills, studiasmart takes charge of all the work
In summary, the student will be able to realize a study plan in no time.
The study plan will be intelligent, it will inform the student , thanks to an algorithm built with the purpose of fighting the forgetting curve, what to study and when to optimize time and results.

Once I realized the flow through medium-fidelity wireframe I conducted 5 agile tests . The users recruited for this type of test were 5 students from different faculties.
